At the same time, another mythological story is quite popular about this form of mother. After killing all the demons as Kaalratri, Bholenath teases Goddess Parvati by calling her Kali. Mother became angry and did severe penance of Brahma ji for many days to get her skin, pleased with the penance, Brahma ji appeared directly to Mother Parvati and asked her to take a bath in Mansarovar of Himalayas.

On the advice of Brahma ji, Mother Parvati took a bath in Mansarovar, as soon as she took a bath, the mother’s body became white like milk. This form of mother was called Mahagauri.

3rd Story of Maa Mahagauri :

According to religious texts, a lion was suffering from hunger and was roaming here and there in search of food. In search of food he reached a mountain where Goddess Uma was doing penance.

Seeing the goddess, the hunger of the lion increased and he sat there waiting for the goddess’s penance to end. He became very weak due to hunger while waiting for the goddess. Seeing his condition after getting up from penance, the mother felt pity. Mother made it her vehicle, because she too had done severe penance.

According to Devi Bhagavata Purana, the Mahagauri Varna is completely white and her clothes and ornaments are also white in colour. The vehicle of the Maa Mahagauri is Vrishabha i.e. bull.

The right hand of the mother is in Abhayamudra and the lower hand holds a trident symbolizing the power of Durga. In the upper hand of Mahagauri’s left hand, Shiva’s symbol is Damru. He is also called Shiva because of wearing Damru.

The hand below the mother is in vermilion, which gives abhay to her devotees. This form of the mother is visible only in a calm posture. Worshiping them destroys all sins.

Offer This Thing to Mother :

According to Devi Bhagwat Purana, there is a tradition of offering coconut to the mother on the Ashtami date of Navratri. After offering the bhog, either give coconut to the Brahmin or distribute it as prasad.

On this day, pudding-puri, vegetables and black gram prasad are specially made among the devotees who worship the girl. Mahagauri loves to sing and accompaniment. Devotees should wear pink colored clothes while worshiping.

Pink color is a symbol of love. The family can be connected by the threads of love, so it is considered auspicious to wear pink color on the Ashtami of Navratri.

Devotees who worship the girl on this day should offer pudding and gram prasad to the mother. On this day, girls should be called at home and after washing their feet, they should perform Panchopchar Puja with the mantra.

Serve pudding, puri, vegetable and gram prasad to all the girls by applying roli-tilak and tying Kalawa. After this take blessings from them and leave by giving some gifts and dakshina according to your ability.
